Following Daniel Spoerri's sudden death last year, it was decided that a pure Spoerri exhibition with works from as many creative phases as possible would be organised for the 2025 season.

The show owes its title to a series on loan from the Museum Morsbroich (Leverkusen, Germany). The twenty »Cinnamon Magic Preserves«, which were created on the Greek island of Symi in 1968/69, have been a turning point in Daniel Spoerri's work. He wanted to break away from the »Snare Pictures« and turned to assemblages of simple everyday objects and found objects: shoes, a piece of rope, bones, horns, pieces of iron...

On Symi, he also created the »Gastronomic Diary«, the basis for the »Restaurant Spoerri«, which opened in Düsseldorf in 1970, and the »Eat art« that followed.

In addition to early works from private and museum collections, assemblages from various series (détrompe l'oeil, multiples, »Tiroirs«, »Boites à lettres«, etc.) that have not yet been shown in the exhibition venue as well as large-format assemblages, including two works from the »Corps en morçeaux« series from the Lower Austrian State Collections, will complement the cross-section.
